Lithuania Summer Law Program — Apply
The program is open to law students, lawyers, and other legal professionals interested in studying in Lithuania. Students from foreign law schools, including students from the host institution VMU, are also eligible and invited to enroll in the program. Enrollment will be limited to 80 students. It is anticipated that student participants will come from the U.S. and other parts of the world, but especially from Lithuania and neighboring European countries, such as Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine. We expect approximately 30 non-U.S. students for the 2016 program year. Students from the United States of America, enrolling in the summer program for credit toward a J.D. degree, must have completed at least one year of full or part-time law study at an ABA-approved law school.
Other students enrolling in the summer program must have completed at least one year of law study in a program which, after it is successfully completed, would enable them to practice in the main legal professions (as judge, attorney, or prosecutor) in their home country; also, they must provide sufficient evidence showing their proficiency in English.
All students must be in good standing at their home institution. Students from Texas Tech and VMU will not need to furnish a letter from their dean or registrar certifying their good standing, as the registrar at those students’ institutions will certify that they are eligible to attend. Students from other schools must provide a letter or certificate of good standing signed by a dean or registrar.

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Texas Tech University will be charging a separate, refundable fee of $200.
Please note that a separate non-refundable $100 deposit will be credited to your tuition/fees bill if you attend the program.
All students participating in the Lithuania Summer Law Program must read the Worldwide Caution and the Lithuania Consular Information Sheet from the U.S. Department of State.
IMPORTANT: Your application is NOT complete until the application has been submitted AND your tuition and activities fee have been paid.

Regular Program (non-externship) application deadline: March 15, 2016
Final payment of tuition may be paid anytime, but must be received by no later than May 6, 2016.
Texas Tech reserves the right to cancel the program before May 2, 2016, for lack of adequate enrollment, or any other reason, with full refund given to the students within 20 days. This program has not been cancelled in prior years.
Texas Tech also reserves the right to cancel or shorten the program at any time should extraordinary circumstances arise, such as a natural disaster, political emergency or force majeure. For cancellation that occurs after a deposit has been paid, Texas Tech will use its best efforts to make arrangements for each student enrolled to attend a similar program, if the student so desires.
If prior to commencement of the program— or during the program— a U.S. State Department Travel Warning or Alert is issued for the country in which the program will be conducted, all registrants will be promptly notified of the warning and be given an opportunity to withdraw from the program.
If changes are made in the course offerings or other significant aspects of the program, all registrants will be given the opportunity to withdraw from the program.
If a student withdraws prior to the commencement of the program, as permitted above, or if a program is canceled, the student will receive a full refund of all monies advanced to Texas Tech within twenty (20) days after the cancellation or withdrawal.
If a student withdraws during the course of the program, as permitted above, or if the program is terminated, the student will be refunded fees paid to Texas Tech except for room and board payments utilized prior to the date of termination or withdrawal.
Subject to the requirements of Section VII of the ABA Criteria for Approval of Foreign Summer and Intersession Programs (See the “Cancellation Policy” above), students who choose to withdraw from the program after Friday, May 6, 2016, will not receive a refund of tuition and fees.
Formal Method of Communication with Students
E-mail is the official method of communication with all students on matters relating to the program. Texas Tech Law students will be contacted through their Texas Tech e-mail address, and non-Texas Tech Laws students will be contacted through the e-mail address they provide to Texas Tech or VMU on their application for the study abroad program.
The program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, physical or mental handicap, age, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, ancestry, or medical condition in its policies and programs.
