At orientation, you will:
Do I have to attend Orientation?
Yes, New Student Orientation is mandatory. Please check the schedule listed on the website for specific dates, times, and a full schedule of events.
Am I in Group A or B? What are Tracks?
Groups and Tracks will be assigned and explained on Tuesday.
How should I plan on dressing for orientation?
Business attire is required for Tuesday. Wednesday, and Thursday you may wear business casual. Everyone will wear their Orientation shirt and something comfortable for Friday’s activities.
What do I need to bring to Orientation?
Please see the Before You Arrive Checklist for a list of the important items and documents to bring with you.
Will I have time during orientation to run errands or make appointments on campus?
Orientation is a full-day event on August 12th, 13th, 14th, and half of the day on Friday the 15th. You will have time on Friday afternoon to take care of personal business. Additionally, there are no scheduled Orientation activities on Monday the 11th.
What about meals?
We will provide lunch throughout Orientation. Beverages and snacks will be available throughout the orientation day. A lite breakfast will be provided on August 12th and 15th. Please let us know your dietary restrictions in the pre-orientation information form.
Will I meet 2L and 3L students during orientation?
Yes. There are several planned activities throughout the week for new students to engage with current School of Law students.
What is Disorientation?
Disorientation is a special, mandatory New Student Orientation event. This event is a mixer for students, faculty, and staff. Details will be explained throughout the week.
Where should I get my textbooks for classes?
There are a number of local options for textbooks. For your convenience, we have invited Barnes & Noble to the School of Law to assist you. Please see the schedule for specifics.
Where can I get my student identification card?
The Law School will assist you in the Student ID card process. You will take your photos and receive your ID card in the library. After taking your photos, you will be notified by email when your ID card is available.
Can I use the Student Rec Center?
The Law School has made special arrangements with the Student Rec Center for you to have access during the week of Orientation using your driver’s license. You will use your Student ID for access after they become available.
Where do I park on campus?
The School of Law parking lot (R21) will be open the week of orientation. If you wish, you can purchase your parking pass either in person or online before Orientation.
