How to Apply: Financial Aid Process

  1. Print out the Texas Tech Financial Aid Fact Sheet. The Fact Sheet is an excellent source for important financial aid information, including contact information, the financial aid process, deadlines, helpful Web sites, and definitions of various financial aid terms.
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year in order to be considered for grants, scholarships, federal work study and loans. The FAFSA is available after January 1st each year. If you are selected for verification, we will notify you by email. Verification worksheet(s) are available on the TTU financial aid Web site.
  3. Once awarded, you will receive an email which will direct you to Raider Aid.
  4. Complete the Loans By Web application process each time you are awarded a Stafford loan.
  5. If you are a first-time borrower, complete Entrance Loan Counseling. Funds will not be released until this is done.
  6. Receive your funds. Loan proceeds from Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) lenders, after all charges are paid (i.e. tuition and fees, on-campus housing, etc.), will be deposited through Automatic Check Deposit (ACH) or will be mailed to your address listed in TechSIS [about TechSis]. ACH is encouraged and can be arranged through Student Business Services (SBS).
