FAQs

What does it cost to take these classes?

Nothing! Classes are free to all TTU law students starting in a 1L's second semester.

Who teaches these classes?

Librarians teach all COE courses. All librarians at the Tech Law Library have graduate degrees in library science and experience in legal research. Most have J.D. degrees or experience practicing law.

How do I find out when classes are being offered?

A class schedule is issued at the beginning of each semester. It is posted on the library's display areas and Calendars periodically throughout the semester. You can also visit the class registration Web site discussed below.

How do I register for classes?

You can register for classes on the COE portal at http://mytechlaw.law.ttu.edu/Departments/StudentAffairs/Legacy/Pages/COEinLR.aspx. At this site, you can see all of the courses available, add or drop classes, see the classes for which you have registered, and see a transcript of the classes you have completed. You will need your eRaider ID to register. Class sizes are limited.

What does it take?

You obtain your Certificate by successfully completing 30 hours of classes and assessments. While you can take more classes, you choose the 8 required courses and 2 elective courses you want to complete your Certificate requirements.

Do I receive grades for these classes?

No. If you do not complete the skills assessment satisfactorily, you will not receive credit for the course. You can repeat it or select a different course if it is an elective.
