Dean Perez oversees all aspects of the law school's recruitment and admissions efforts. In addition to traveling extensively to recruit and present at colleges and universities nationwide, he also directs the admissions and scholarship committees. Before joining the law school, Dean Perez was the Development Coordinator (2008-2010) and Director of Admissions (2004-2008) at the University of Idaho College of Law.
While with the Univesity of Idaho Perez directed the law school's admissions, marketing, and recruitment efforts and created the College of Law alumni magazine. Dean Perez was the only non-faculty member of Idaho Law's Second Century strategic planning committee charged with researching, planning, and implementing the opening of a branch campus of the College of Law in Boise, Idaho.
Since coming to Texas Tech, Dean Perez has succeeded in enrolling two of the most diverse classes in the history of the law school (2011, 2012). Most recently he was selected from nominees across the university to be a part of the 2015 Presidential Leadership Institute.
Dean Perez presents regularly on various aspects of law school admissions, including the 2013 Southwestern Association of Prelaw Advisors conference and the 2012 Electronic Services Conference (ESCon) hosted by the Law School Admissions Council. In 2008 he served on the faculty for the LSAC Newcomers Workshop, which is the annual workshop where new law school admissions professional receive training, and recently completed two years of service on LSAC's Misconduct and Irregularities subcommittee.
