Admitted to practice in Texas and in Federal Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas.

Following graduation, Judge Harger began as a felony prosecutor for the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office, thereafter entering into solo practice for ten years with an emphasis in Family and Criminal Law. He is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Elected to fill an unexpired term as Judge of the Nolan County Court at Law in March 2000, Harger assumed office June 1, 2000 and continues to serve in that capacity. He is a graduate of the Texas College for Judicial Studies and has served as Chairman of the Legislative Committee (2005), President-elect (2006) and now President of the Texas Association of County Court at Law Judges. In those capacities, Harger has been a resource of information on Statutory County Courts for the Texas Judicial Council, the Senate Jurisprudence Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.

Judge Harger was selected as an advisor to the Task Force on Indigent Defense Policies and Standards Committee prior to the 80th Legislative Session, and effective September 1, 2007, Harger was appointed by Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson of the Texas Supreme Court to a four-year term on the Judicial Committee on Information Technology.

Judge Harger initially taught a Preparing to Practice Workshop at the Tech Law School in the Spring of 2001 and 2002. The free workshop was designed to provide basic forms, scripts and practice skills for third year students who anticipated opening their own offices following graduation. The focus of the workshop was office management together with basic family law, criminal and probate practice that most solo practitioners rely upon to sustain their fledgling business. He continues to offer mentoring to students once they begin their practice. Beginning with the Spring 2004 semester, Judge Harger was allowed to incorporate the basics of the workshop into the existing, for credit Law Office Management Course. The upper level Course addresses professional ethics, office management, practice skills and quality of life issues.
