About the Health Law Program
Courses
The health law program offers an impressive depth and breadth of subject matter coverage. The faculty consists of experienced and committed teachers who are also experts in their disciplines. Members of the health law faculty speak frequently at a local, state, national and international level and publish in a wide range of law and inter-disciplinary publications.
Professional Contact and Networking
Because of the law school’s close ties with the legal community the health law program is able to offer externship placements in the General Counsel Offices of two major hospitals as well as opportunities to pursue internships in public health agencies and clinical settings that allow our students to gain real world experience in the world of health care.

TTU Alumni are currently working in a wide range of public and private settings including academia, government and private practice. Health Policy Concentration
3 years of full-time study
Juris Doctor/Master of Health Organization Management

3.5 years of full-time study
Externships
Law students regularly intern in the General Counsel’s Offices of both of Lubbock’s Medical Centers.
Student Organizations
There are three active student organizations devoted to students who interests include health law. They are first, and primarily, the Health Law Association which meets on a regular basis and which brings speakers to the law school and hosts joint events with the medical school. There is also the Law and Science Students Organization and the Law and Bioterrorism organization. Recently, all three groups joined to co-sponsor a showing of the movie "The Andromeda Strain" for a mixed group of law students and medical students. The movie was followed by a panel discussion with a medical school professor and a law professor discussing the legal and medical issues about bioterrorism and pandemic disease raised by the movie.
