Health Law Program
The Health Law Program offers students an opportunity to pursue a directed course of study in the broad area of health law. The program requires that students complete particular courses and directed research at a high level of performance. Completion of the certificate program is noted on the student's transcript.
The Health Law Program also awards a Certificate in Health Law.
Texas Tech University is an ideal location to study health law because it is the only school in Texas and one of the few in the nation with a Law School, Medical School, Graduate School and Business School in the same system and on the same campus. Students can travel easily to classes and events among all of these locations. Lubbock is the regional center for health care excellence with both the University Hospital and Covenant Hospital.
The law school has developed a dual-degree JD/MD program with the Texas Tech University Health sciences Center School of Medicine which allows students to receive both degrees in six years. To be eligible for this program students must apply to both schools at the same time and satisfy all the requirements for admission to each school.
