Pick up Library/IT Orientation Packet
Full Library Orientation Schedule
Pick up Library/IT Orientation Packet (Prior to attending any
event)
The first step in the Library/IT Orientation process is to pick
up a packet from Library staff at the Library’s Circulation
Desk. As you pick up your packet, your name will be checked off
a list. Keep this packet with you throughout the
Library/IT Orientation. The packet will include items
which will provide additional details about both the Library and
the Orientation procedure, such as a Location Guide and
checklists for Orientation activities.
Library Tour
You must sign up in advance for this session.
The Tour will take you to three floors of the Library. By
completing a Tour, you will learn about your access to the
Library, its physical layout, amenities available at the
Circulation Desk, and materials contained on each floor. The
Tour will emphasize practical features of the Library, such as
the location of printers, public computers, and the Computer
Lab. Librarians will briefly point out the types of legal
materials contained on the 1st Floor, exposing you to resources
which you will use during law school.
Laptop Connection session
You must sign up in advance for this session.
The Laptop Connection session will help you connect your laptop
to TTU resources by covering the RaiderDrive Setup, Network
Printers, and Wireless Setup portions of the
Laptop Connection Guide. It is recommended that you review
(complete if possible) the Guide’s instructions ahead of time on
your own while on campus in order to reduce your time spent in
the session. The Microsoft Office Setup and Antivirus Setup
portions will not be covered in the session and must be
completed on your own. There will be a brief overview of each
resource covered along with time for IT-related questions at the
end of the session.
Computing Resources session
You must sign up in advance for this session.
The Computing Resources session will address web-based
applications or databases available at TTU which are described
in the
Computing Resource Guide. It is recommended that you review
(complete if possible) the Guide’s instructions ahead of time on
your own while on campus to reduce your time spent in the
session. Resources covered in the session include MyTechLaw,
Course Sites, TechLaw Announce, MediaSite, Classroom Technology,
Raiderlink, Examsoft, and Lexis and Westlaw passwords.
General Information/Carrel Keys session
The final step in the Library/IT Orientation process is to
attend a General Information/Carrel Keys session. You
must complete all other Orientation steps before you will be
able to attend this session. In the General
Information/Carrel Keys session, you will learn how to access
Library printers to facilitate your work while in law school.
You will also receive and sign for the key set (door key and
cabinet key) to your carrel, as well as learn carrel policies.
There is no sign-up process to attend the General
Information/Carrel Keys session. Simply complete all other steps
in the Orientation process; then you may attend this session.
