In Fall 2006, Texas Tech University School of Law enrolled 702 students, including an entering class of 226 students from an applicant pool of 1,831. The median LSAT score for the entering class was 155 and the median GPA was 3.61. Ethnically, 19% of the entering students were minorities: 10% Hispanic, 6% African American, 4% Asian-Pacific Islander, 1% Native American. The first-year class consisted of 132 males and 94 females.
Our curriculum is composed of courses designed to provide students with a strong foundation in law appropriate to practice in any jurisdiction. Students can choose elective courses that emphasize practice and procedure in the state of Texas.
Six months after the Class of 2005 graduated, 97% had accepted positions and 96% of that number chose to practice law in Texas. Career choices included private practice, 89%; state or federal agencies, 7%; judicial clerks, 3%; and military, public interest, and corporate practice, 1%.
Texas Tech University School of Law historically ranks at or near the number one position in the Texas Bar Examination results. The law school's average passage rate for the last 15 years is 90% (based on summer exams).
Texas Tech University School of Law has a faculty of 45 full-time and adjunct professors with expertise in various areas of practice. There are 8 administrators and 52 supporting staff members (both administration and library). The student-faculty ratio is 15.3:1

The "open-door" policy allows students to visit with faculty as needed beyond classroom hours. In addition to classrooms and seminar rooms, the Texas Tech University School of Law building has an expansive law library, courtroom, computer laboratory, Office of Career Services, lounge area, snack area, student organization offices, and faculty and administrative offices.
The Texas Tech Law Library provides students access to computer resources and facilities unparalleled in the nation. Students have wide-ranging access to legal information resources both printed and online. Study carrels are computer-based work stations where students perform computer-assisted legal research, word processing, and many other functions in an office-like setting. The superior computer resources complement a substantial collection of available printed materials.

Located in the heart of the vast Southern Plains of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock is a major regional center for business and industry. This location provides easy access to the Southwest, the Rocky Mountains, and the Great Plains region. The city is located 320 miles from Dallas-Ft. Worth, 400 miles from San Antonio, and 520 miles from Houston. Lubbock's climate is semiarid and mild. With a population of about 200,000, Lubbock is a major medical center for the entire West Texas and Eastern New Mexico region.
